A Jury of Her Peers Journal Entry from Minnie Foster

I don't know what to do. I can't hold in my anger any longer. John strangled my canary just last week. That canary was the light of my life, since John was never there for me. He never wanted me to be happy. Whenever I would sing, he would tell me to stop. He doesn't care for happy things much at all. Our house is so dreary and boring. It reflects his personality very well. I have figured out the only way that I can let all this anger out. I will put him through the same death as my canary had to suffer through. I think it is a good plan. It will be a long, sufferable death, perfect to make him regret ever laying his eyes on my canary. Some people might say that I should give him a second chance, but I've put up with him for too long to give a second chance. He has made me far different from the person I was years ago. Well, goodnight dear journal, and thank you for listening to my problems.

  1. Jennifer,
Your entry was great. You sounded just like someone who was about to kill their husband. Not that that's a good thing, but that you had good voice in your entry.

  3. Hi Jennifer!!
I thought this "letter" as Minnie Foster was full of feeling. Sometimes I though your sentences were a little chopy, but overall it was a very well written out.

  4. Wow, you really sounded like you were about to kill him. You had really good details. I like how you compared his attitude to the feeling in the house. I truly can't find anything that you could have done better.

  5. I really liked how you talked about how her husband has made her a different person. I think that sounded really cool. It is really like you are Minnie because of your details that you have in your letter. Maybe you should try to fix some of your sentence lengths because some of them sound a little short and choppy like taylor said.
