In Montag's marriage, one significant thing was missing, something that relationships need to survive: love. Even in the beginning Montag knew that his marriage was falling apart, but he forced himself to believe that it would be fine. When one day Montag asked Mildred about the first time they met, things become clear. "Funny, how funny, not to remember where or when you met your husband'r wife." (Pg. 43) In a strong marriage, this answer would be imprinted in their heads. This shows how trust isn't present, how this marriage is a joke, and how little this marriage means. Mildred shrugged off the fact that neither of them remembered, but Montag started to realize that maybe his marriage wouldn't end the way he wanted it to and he needed to face the truth.
Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteI really like how you took this marriage and compared it to a regular marriage, showing how weird and strange it is. Also, it like your new colors and fonts for your blog, they're really cool.
